Approval conditions

This service waiver only applies to specialist classes delivered by the service, for which the service must ensure: • the specialist class is conducted by a person who holds a primary teaching qualification (the specialist teacher); • with the exception of the specialist teacher, at least 50 per cent of the educators who are required to meet the relevant educator to child ratios for the service must have, or be actively working towards, at least an approved diploma level education and care qualification; • an educator and either an educator or the specialist teacher accompanies the children to and from the specialist classes; and • the early childhood teacher remains on the service premises and is available to assist in the education and care of children as needed. During the delivery of the specialist class. for all parts of the service not actively delivering a specialist class, the service must ensure that at least 50 per cent of the educators who are required to meet the relevant educator to child ratios for the service must have, or be actively working towards, at least an approved diploma level education and care qualification.
