Approval conditions

The approved provider must ensure that no more than 40 children are being educated and cared for on the first floor of the service. The approved provider must ensure that in each room on the first floor that children are being educated and cared for in, one additional educator above the minimum prescribed in regulation 123(1) of the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 is available to support access to outdoor spaces, ensure adequate supervision of children when accessing bathroom and hygiene facilities, and for the safe evacuation of children in the event of an emergency. The approved provider must ensure that children being educated and cared for in the Junior Big Inventors room (as denoted on the area measurement form) have daily access to a ground floor outdoor space and records are maintained and available at the service premises to demonstrate that each child has daily access to the ground floor outdoor space. The approved provider must ensure that whenever children are accessing the bottom garden in Outdoor Play Space 1 (as denoted on the area measurement form) one additional educator above the minimum prescribed in regulation 123(1) of the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 is available to support access to bathroom and hygiene facilities. The approved provider must ensure that whenever children are accessing any of the services outdoor play spaces a minimum of two educators are educating and caring for children to support children’s access to bathroom and hygiene facilities and support adequate supervision practices. The approved provider must engage an appropriate expert such as a fire safety advisor or fire safety engineer to observe a full emergency evacuation rehearsal and prepare a report on the emergency and evacuation procedure rehearsal of the service. This must occur annually, and a copy of the report produced in relation this condition must be submitted to the Regional Office of the Regulatory Authority in which the service is located within seven (7) days of receipt. The approved provider must ensure that emergency evacuation rehearsals are conducted once per calendar month and updated as part of the services evacuation risk assessment. The evacuation rehearsal must include all children from level one evacuating to the ground floor. The Approved Provider is required to ensure objects are not placed or able to be placed in a manner that may allow a child to climb over barriers or fences; and all play equipment in the outdoor play spaces are maintained and placed in a way that meets the requirements of the Australian Playground Standards (Standard AS 4685) with particular consideration given to falling space, impact areas and free space.
