Approval conditions

• The approved provider is permitted to educate and care for a maximum of 177 children during school holidays (vacation care). The Approved Provider must provide professional development to the Nominated Supervisor(s), educational leaders, educators and all other staff, students or volunteers employed, appointed or engaged by the approved provider by 31 December 2019 to ensure that they gain the knowledge to build their skills in active and adequate supervision of children. • The Department must be provided with proof of the completion of the professional development within 7 days of completion. The Approved Provider must review and revise any policies and procedures related to excursions outside the service by 31 December 2019 to ensure: o The development of appropriate risk assessment plans for excursion outside the service; o The development of a process so that risk assessments for excursions are relevant to the activities proposed; the age, skills and abilities of the children enrolled to attend the excursion are sufficiently considered; and that the risk assessments are reviewed and signed off by a Nominated supervisor 14 days prior to the planned excursion; and o The development of a process by which any educators – permanent or casual - attending an excursion are provided with relevant information about the excursion at least the day prior to the planned excursion which includes: - providing a copy of the approved risk assessment that details the activities and specific associated risks; - any specialised skills that they are required to have; - any specific information regarding supervision; safety issues; and communication between educators; and - any medical conditions or other requirements of the children attending the excursion. The Department must be provided with proof of the completion of this policy and procedure review within 7 days of completion.
